Black Friday is a major day of sales that originated in the United States and has quickly reached customers from all over the world. Some of the most appetizing discounts are offered by the shopping platform Amazon. The purpose of this day was to provide some exclusive, unmissable deals for Amazon customers, where popular devices and technological items go on major discounts. Over time, it’s become so popular that it is now one of the global shopping events, looked forward to by many throughout the year. It first began in 2010 when Amazon decided to introduce this American shopping event in the UK market.

Since then, Black Friday has evolved and is now multi-day sales with major discounts on offer. Importantly, it spans many different global markets, which means that countries around the world can all participate. The expansion from a simple 24-hour sale to this multi-day campaign has meant that now there are discounts across all categories. Discounts can often be huge, making it well-worth the time.

Black Friday always takes place on the day after Thanksgiving: in 2025, the official date for Black Friday is November 28th, though there are often some early deals dropped in the lead up to the main event. Last year’s event on Amazon lasted a whole week and continued with Cyber Monday deals.

What to Expect from Amazon Black Friday 2025: Deals, Categories, and Smart Savings

The main attraction of the event is that there are multiple categories with major deals. Typically, there are millions of limited-time offers from top global brands right through to new-to-Amazon brands. These include the likes of Sony, Dyson, Kiehl’s, Levi’s, Samsung and many more.

There’s a section on ‘Today’s Big Deals’ which is where there are new, daily and themed deal-drops during the Black Friday event. Some of the trending product categories that are commonly sought by the different shoppers include electronics, fashion, books, skincare, vitamins, home improvement, and pet essentials. All of these typically have a wealth of options on offer.

During this time, Amazon often has brand-specific coupons and limited-time promo codes. These are found directly on the product’s page, or via the Prime-exclusive announcements. Many of these codes require the customer to do nothing — they are added automatically at the checkout. However, there are some that do need to be manually activated to unlock extra savings. Typically, you will find a click box to open and activate the coupon directly under the product.

These types of codes can really be beneficial in finding some great quality products at a significantly lower price. It’s especially good for finding premium or trending products in the skincare, supplement, tech, gadgets and fashion categories. You should check for daily updated Amazon discount codes on reliable online websites to ensure you don’t miss an offer. You can also use the wish lists feature to select the items you want and then track price drops.

Amazon’s Rise and Why Black Friday Reflects Its Market Power

As many know, Amazon has a strong retail dominance in the e-commerce world. Impressively, Amazon began life as an online bookshop before it slowly transitioned to become a global e-commerce powerhouse. It has an extremely customer-centric model which means that it prioritises rapid fulfilment — it’s got the popular and well-used one-day Prime delivery for all members in specific countries. Amazon has also expanded to include a wealth of different options such as groceries, streaming, cloud services and even AI-powered shopping features. On top of this, Amazon has innovative shopping tools which include Rufus which is an AI-assisted guide. There’s also Alexa+ which helps to support smart shopping, and enables users to track discounts that might be on offer.

As such, Amazon is one of the main drivers in shaping online shopping behaviours, especially when it comes to its own major sale days such as Black Friday. Black Friday really does present a great opportunity for shoppers. It’s not just the best time to buy trending products, but it’s also a time when you can do so in an informed, strategic, and value-oriented way.

Consider some of the most popular items and products of 2025. Right now, activewear, athleisure, skincare regimes such as Korean skincare products or beef tallow moisturiser are increasingly popular. Some categories remain consistently popular, with the likes of makeup, vitamins, jeans, dresses, electronics and kitchen appliances, popular items all year round. As such, it’s the time to grab a bargain while still getting quality items.
