Packing is an inevitable part of travelling, that its efficiency is highly related to the travel experience and frequency. Although, it does not guarantee that items will never slip our mind again, and let’s hope they ain’t one of the important ones.
A very useful idea, is to prepare packing lists, when there is not an upcoming trip, as the inexistence of pressure is a great ally of better memory.
Except the overall list of the several categories of items, one should not neglect to make a list especially for things related to health, crucial for his comfort and well-being.
Therefore, we thought it would be really helpful if someone handed us a list of all health items that are necessary to be included in our travel kit, and so we did for you.
- Medications
If you take prescribed medication or medical equipment, for any physical or mental health condition, then this should be one of the very first items to ensure you have packed. It’s not only the fact that buying the meds in an unknown country might be highly damaging for your pocket, rather than that different regulations might apply, and you end up being completely unable to buy them, something that puts your well-being if not life, in great risk.
Additionally, we recommend having with you a pocket-size drug store, with some everyday, over-the-counter medication, used to confront usual irritabilities. These could be painkillers, antihistamines or cortisone, and meds to fight diarrhoea.
Based on the mean of transportation selected, anti-nausea medications could be added.
Lastly, make sure to have your insurance card with you, just in case.
- Protection from Bacteria
For sure COVID-19, is still out there, even if we seem to have returned to our everyday lives and risk is much lower. Fundamental precaution items, are recommended to be packed, such as face masks, travel-sized hand soap and disinfectant wipes or sanitizer.
To be honest, these items are kind of mandatory to always be in your every-day bag, if you want to pursue 100% protection from germs, regardless of travelling or not.
- Personal Care Items
The range of personal care items is wide, and some of them are indeed related exclusively to our appearance. Part of them though, that also enhance our looks, have more to do with our health, and neglecting their appliance them may cause discomfort and irritability, with the most frequent symptoms being headaches and itchiness.
Such items are sunscreen with high SPF and lip balm with SPF, face (and mainly eye) and body moisturizing products, floss, insect repellent and a cream for burns.
- First-Aid Kit
Its size and variety of components depends on the length of your trip, and the activities planned during it. Although, in any case some simple first-aid items for everyday injuries should not be left out of your travel kit. Remember to pack a few adhesive bandages, or even some adhesive tape, tweezers, and small scissors, betadine, and a digital thermometer. Or, you can just buy one of the first’aid kits sold in the market.
