To get healthy, beautiful nails, you need to do the right things before you start your nail care routine. However, many people skip these important steps. If you don’t prepare your nails properly, treatments might not work as well on them, leaving them weak or dull. This blog will give you five important tips on how to get your nails ready for nail care.

1. Clean and Remove Any Existing Polish

Always clean your nails and remove any old polish before starting to care for them. Take off your nail polish with a soft cleanser that won’t dry out your nails. Carefully wipe off each nail until there is no more color remaining. After this step, you’ll have a new base to work with.

To get rid of any leftover remover, wash your hands with soap and water after taking off the polish. Use a clean towel to dry them well. Infections can be avoided by keeping your nails clean, and new polish or treatments will stick better.

2. Trim and Shape Your Nails

Cut your nails to the length you want with nail clippers. To keep it from splitting or cracking, make small cuts. Then, shape them with a nail file. Depending on your style, you can make them round, square, or oval. Maintain strong nails by filing them in a single direction at all times.

Do not file your nails too quickly or too deeply, as this can make them weak. Ensure the edges are smooth so your nails don’t catch on anything. When you trim and shape your nails the right way, they stay healthy and look good.

3. Soak Your Nails for Softening

It’s good for your nails and cuticles to soak in warm water. Towel your fingers in warm water for five minutes. For extra softness, you can add a little oil or mild soap.

Using a towel, dry your hands after they’re wet. It is easier to shape and take care of nails and cuticles that are soft. This step also calms you down while you’re taking care of your nails.

4. Push Back Your Cuticles Gently

After soaking, use a soft cuticle pusher or a wooden stick to gently push your cuticles back. Do not push too hard, or you could hurt your nail bed. This makes your nails look cleaner and longer.

Your cuticles keep germs from getting under your nails, so don’t cut them unless you have to. Do this step slowly and briefly. Just push back enough to get the nail surface clear. When your cuticles are healthy, your nails stay strong and you don’t get infections.

5. Exfoliate Your Nails and Cuticles

To get rid of dry skin and dead skin cells, rub the scrub in small circles. This brightens up your nails and makes them feel smooth. You can buy a scrub or mix sugar and oil together.

After you scrub, wet your hands with warm water and dry them with a towel. This step makes your nails grow stronger and better by increasing blood flow.

Practice These Habits for Your Next Nail Care Routine

Whether you’re doing a natural look or applying polish, practicing these habits will help your nails look and feel their best. For a long-lasting finish that complements your prep work, explore high-quality options like vernis semi-permanent product to complete your nail routine with professional-grade results.
