Bath mats are fairly underappreciated bathroom accessories. They don’t get as much love and attention as, let’s say, bamboo or organic cotton towels, toothbrushes or even soap dispensers and other small pieces that can be easily coordinated in your space. And it’s a shame really – they have so much to offer in terms of both practicality and style. So, if you’ve been sleeping on that little piece of marvel – you’re really missing out. But what kind of mat should you get? Now, that’s a question! We’ve prepared a short and hopefully helpful list of the most interesting models. As we all know, there’s no accounting for taste. We all value different things when it comes to style. Some don’t even care at all about the looks – functionality is their number one concern. Whatever it is – we hope you’ll find some inspiration in our quick guide.

Quick-Drying Mats

Mats with quick-drying properties are particularly useful in bathrooms with high traffic. These mats are designed to dry rapidly, reducing the risk of mould or unpleasant odours. Now what are they made of? That depends. We mentioned microfibre, but let’s take a look at something more interesting a stone bath mat. These mats can go from wet to dry in merely 60 seconds. How’s that possible? This is the power of diatomite – a porous natural rock used to make this little wonder. They’re eco-friendly, ridiculously easy to maintain and have natural anti-bacterial properties. You do need to be prepared to invest a bit more money, there are definitely more affordable options out there. Also, although they’re durable, it’s not that hard to break them, so a stone mat and a house full of kids might not exactly be a match made in heaven.

Memory Foam Mats

Memory foam bath mats provide a luxurious and comfortable feel underfoot. The technology was actually first developed by NASA. They contour to the shape of your feet, offering support and relief. Additionally, memory foam mats are quite absorbent and quick-drying, making them a practical choice for bathrooms. They’re a solid choice, fairly easy to upkeep, and there are plenty of different designs. Comfort and convenience. The only downside is quite simple – not everyone will like them. If you’re betting on natural materials around your house, this mat might not be the most fitting choice. They’re also not a particularly sustainable option for that very reason.

Microfiber Mats

Just like their towel counterparts, microfiber bath mats are known for their excellent absorbency, anti-mildew and anti-mould properties. They can soak up water quickly, helping to keep bathroom floors dry. Microfiber mats are soft, durable, and often machine washable, which makes them easy to clean. You just have to bear in mind these are made from a cheap material and more often than not – it shows. It’s not very surprising – there’s usually that trade-off with any affordable piece.

Decision Time

There are several factors you need to think about before you make the final call. Consider the size of your bathroom, the frequency of use, and your personal style preferences. Additionally, ensure that the mat is easy to clean to maintain a hygienic bathroom environment. Whatever’s important to you should be reflected in the choice you’re going to make. This way you’ll be happy with your mat and dodge a bullet known as buyer’s remorse.
