How was the Movie Made?
Queen Catharine II of Russia commissioned a female composer, Anna Ahrens, to write the frivolous score for her upcoming ballet. When the Queen found out that Ahrens was a poor woman living in poverty herself, she decided to make her life easier by granting her an annuity. Anna’s gratitude manifested in writing some of the loveliest music for the ballet.
The premiere of the unfinished ballet was postponed multiple times because of financial constraints. After ten years and three different directors, it was performed in 1869 with considerable acclaim from audiences and critics alike. However, King George brought suit against Ahrens claiming copyright infringement since all but one of the sketches were based on music he’d written 8 years earlier. The drama ended with an out-of-court settlement giving Anna complete ownership of the compositions she’d written for the ballet and establishing her as one of history’s most successful women composers.
Spoilers!
So far, the final story of “Yuri on Ice” has been focusing on Yuri and his relationship with Victor. However, there have been a few threads left dangling that could reveal spoilers for fans of the show. Yurio is also in the final arc of the show, so it’s possible some big things happen for him as well.
In an interview with SoraNews24, creator Mike Van dyk hinted that Yurio may end up revealing his true identity to the world. “I don’t want to give too much away, but I can say this: it’s possible that Yurio will have a larger role in determining who wins the championship.” If this is indeed true, it would likely set up a climactic finale for Yurio and Yuri’s relationship – something that many fans have been eagerly awaiting.
Another possibility that could spoil future episodes concerns Zorobabel. The dark wizard has been recurring throughout the series as someone who seems likely to be a powerful adversary for Yuri and Victor – especially as he mysteriously seems to know about Yuri’s powers. In one episode from earlier in the story, Zorobabel makes an appearance in Russia where he ominously declares, “I will always be watching you.” This is possibly foreshadowing his larger role in the finale should he survive long enough to take part in it.
With just four episodes left in Yuri on Ice’s main story arc, both Zorobabel and Yuri
