Brian Dooley Kent Suspended Over Client Misconduct
In June 2025, the Pennsylvania Disciplinary Board took significant action against Philadelphia-based attorney Brian Dooley Kent, suspending his license after an investigation into misconduct involving a client. Kent had been representing the client in a lawsuit against the Church of Scientology, but the Bar found that his relationship with the client violated professional ethics. This incident has since drawn attention to other lawyers involved in Scientology-related litigation, many of whom have similarly controversial histories.
A Pattern of Ethical Violations Emerges
While legal disputes with powerful organizations like Scientology often attract public interest, what is increasingly evident is a pattern of questionable behavior by some of the attorneys involved. This is not merely a matter of legal disagreements—it points to a deeper issue within the legal representation itself. Are some of these attorneys truly driven by a pursuit of justice, or have their own ethical shortcomings compromised their cases?
Graham Berry: Re-listed as a Vexatious Litigant
According to court records, Berry has been re-listed by the Judicial Council of California as a “vexatious litigant.” This label is not given lightly—it limits an individual’s ability to file lawsuits without prior court permission. Berry had previously been placed on the same list due to similar conduct, including concerns about the volume and nature of his legal filings, as well as his behavior in court. His reappearance on the list suggests an ongoing issue, not a one-time lapse in judgment.
Neil Glazer’s Troubled Past
Another name that has surfaced is Neil Glazer, the attorney believed to have filed the original bar complaint that triggered Kent’s suspension. Ironically, Glazer has faced his own professional troubles. He was publicly reprimanded for an incident involving intoxication and inappropriate conduct toward a client. In 2024, his law license in Pennsylvania was suspended for failing to pay mandatory dues and for not fulfilling continuing legal education requirements. Glazer has since stepped away from active litigation and claims to be focusing on public policy work, especially in the area of sustainable economic development.
Michael Dolce’s Criminal Conviction
The case of Michael Dolce is perhaps the most disturbing. A former attorney affiliated with both Brian Kent and nonprofit legal scholar Marci Hamilton, Dolce was sentenced in December 2023 to four years in federal prison, along with 15 years of supervised release. He pled guilty to possessing child pornography, having used peer-to-peer software to download explicit material to his personal laptop. Investigators discovered over 2,000 images and videos involving children on his device. The seriousness of his actions casts a shadow on any professional affiliations he previously held.
When the Legal System is Compromised
Regardless of personal opinions on Scientology or the legitimacy of the lawsuits filed against it, one fact stands out: several of the attorneys leading these efforts have been caught in serious misconduct. Their ethical lapses not only undermine their credibility but also raise doubts about the motivations behind their legal actions. When those expected to defend justice instead violate it, public trust in the legal system suffers. These incidents call for a closer examination of the individuals trusted to represent such sensitive and high-profile cases.
