The heavy machinery industry is highly dependent on the crane scales. Crane scales help in moving objects from one place to another. Moreover, they also ensured that the objects could be weighed without the need for manual labor in case the weight of the object was very high. However, the crane scales work on the principle of load cells. Load cell for crane comes along with a wide variation of measurements, based on the requirement. Yet the load cells often offer a lot of flexibility, which makes them integral parts of crane scales.

Principle of working of load cells

When force is applied on any material then there is a deformation that takes place on the load cell. This deformation on the load cell is further captured using the various digital meters. The deformation often reflects the force that is measured in Newton. The strain gauge present within the load cells gets deformed when an external force is applied.

Tensile or compressive force acts on the load cells. A change in the electrical resistance takes place that gets reflected in the digital meter. One important thing to take note of here is that the change in resistance is very minuscule by nature. As a result, it is quite difficult to take note of the change in resistance.

Wheatstone bridge is used to magnify the delta of resistance and to offer a better value of resistance which can be recorded. The variation in the resistance of the western bridge led to a reduced output voltage. Eventually, the output voltage is captured and this results in the electronic measurement by the crane scale by the digital meter. 

Application of load cell for crane scales

Load cells for crane scales are myriad applications that can be very critical in the workplace. Be it in the domain of machinery or logistics, they find a lot of importance – in ensuring that smooth workflow is maintained and the daily operations run smoothly.  

Here are some of the applications of load cells for crane cells:

  1. Weighing of the aircraft components can be quite tricky. But with crane scales, the weighing becomes very simplified and operationally simplified. 
  2. Port and dock operations are simplified with the help of load cells for crane scales. Loading and unloading heavy materials require the use of crane scales that help in reducing the delay. 
  3. Agriculture is an area where heavy objects can be lifted and measured using crane scales. They play an important role in ensuring that the goods are weighed accurately. 
  4. Mining uses crane scales extensively. When heavy mineral objects are excavated from the earth, they have to be taken to their destination  – which is often manually not possible. Crane scales offer the flexibility of moving objects easily to the plant thus reducing manual labor. 
  5. The construction industry has a higher demand for crane scales due to the growing use of heavy materials and objects. Using the crane scales with 300t ton load cell ensures higher efficiency and better accuracy in terms of measurement.
